Who We Are
History
In 2006, Israelis and Palestinians who were born into conflict and formerly faced one another as sworn enemies, chose to do the unimaginable.
A small group of former enemy combatants - Israeli soldiers from elite military units and Palestinian fighters, many of whom served years in Israeli prisons - began meeting one another in secret to challenge their fate and the violent status quo.
Through many courageous meetings, a transformational journey began to unfold. These fighters and soldiers once committed to armed battle laid down their weapons to join forces and nonviolently co-resist the occupation, leading to the creation of Combatants for Peace. Today, our movement consists of former fighters, refuseniks, and nonviolent activists committed to co-creating a just peace.
Our Vision
We believe in a world where all people, from the river to the sea, live in peace with dignity, justice, and liberty.
Welcome to the Movement.
CfP is a grassroots movement of Israelis and Palestinians working together to end the occupation and bring peace, equality, and freedom to their homeland.
Committed to joint nonviolence since their inception, they use civil resistance, education and other creative means of activism to transform systems of oppression and build a free and just future based on collective liberation.
CFP’s Mission
American Friends of Combatants for Peace is a diverse community of U.S. and international activists cultivating a cross-border, nonviolent movement for collective liberation in solidarity with CfP.
Through education, advocacy, resource development, grantmaking, community-building, and grassroots initiatives, we strengthen the growing movement for justice, equality, freedom, and peace across Palestine, Israel, and the United States.
